DOT Training provides training in identifying the possibility of drug or alcohol abuse, and provides understanding of how to approach the employee identified as having suspicious behavior. This training helps minimize the risk of drug and alcohol abuse on the job. This also minimizes the risk of drug and alcohol related incidents, making the workplace safer for all employees. Additionally, by ensuring all supervisors have this mandatory training, your employees will be able to make informed decisions on risk levels, and have the knowledge to help legally protect the company in the event of an accusation of mistreatment.
DOT REQUIRED TRAINING
According to DOT regulation, any employee supervising drivers is required to receive at least 60 minutes of training on alcohol misuse and at least an additional 60 minutes of training on controlled substance use yearly. This two-hour class satisfies this requirement, and provides supervisors with resources to help them respond to a situation as needed. Supervisors are trained not only to recognize the problem, but also how to document the situation and address having that person tested once a reasonable suspicion is established. Emphasis is placed on being respectful yet maintaining a safe environment for employees.
