Medical Marijuana

Wyoming does not allow for the use of marijuana in any shape or form, but many states around us here in Wyoming, have laws allowing for the use of medical marijuana. So, we write blogs to educate our customers, as well as to take the myth from the reality in drug use.

It’s common to hear the term “Medical Marijuana” today. Medical marijuana is legal in most states if you have a “Medical Marijuana Card” issued by a medical doctor. The fact is that the THC in marijuana calms and provides pain relief especially in cases of various forms of Cancer, Glaucoma, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Crohn’s and other autoimmune and digestive diseases, Multiple Sclerosis, Epilepsy and seizures, Parkinson’s Disease, HIV/AIDS, Anxiety and other panic disorders. The amount of THC varies widely in the leaves of the marijuana plant. The government’s answer is to make medical marijuana consistent in the amount of THC in each dose, and that it is pure, not laced with other chemicals.

“Marijuana works on some of the same areas of the brain as opioids. (1)–those that perceive pain. The active ingredients may help cancer-related pain.” (2) Opioids in pills tend to build up a “Tolerance” in the brain causing an increase of opioids to get the same pain relief. This is not true with marijuana. Marijuana is consumed through smoke (the lungs) or consumed by eating (the stomach); hence, the brain processes it differently. Many doctors consider medical marijuana safer than opioids because medical marijuana can be administered at a safer dose, hence causing fewer overdoses. “Some preliminary studies have suggested that medical marijuana legalization might be associated with decreased prescription opioid use and overdose deaths, but researchers don't have enough evidence yet to confirm this finding.” (3)

In summary, medical marijuana is a pain reliever for many different conditions, without the risk of building up a tolerance. It’s made safely, so the THC is consistent and without being laced with unknown chemicals. It is also not purchased from a street vendor!
